Dressed to Preach?
If you’ve ever wondered why some pastors wear robes, Jeff Meyers does an excellent job of explaining why his church does.
My take on robes has more to do with the “moisture-factor” than biblical relevance. I don’t have a problem one way or the other, but it is a lot easier to remove a jacket in the heat of preaching than a robe. (Does it mean I could wear shorts and a t-shirt to preach?)
I think that while Meyers does an excellent job of explaining why his church chose this route, he is not necessarily persuasive in arguing that all churches must do this. In some ways, he depends to strongly on Old Covenant practice. Ultimately, though, it is a choice each church must make.
For this pastor, until my fellow elders approach me with their desire that I don the drapery, I’ll just lay low and stay cool (though appropriately so).

Shaun,
You should wear the robe. With a tie. And enough of a shirt that is visible to the congregation. You will then only need shorts, socks, and shoes.
I would suggest a nice cotton or linen for summer, and wool for winter. Stay away from the synthetics and blend.
